The widespread use of micro, small or medium-sized biogas plants at livestock farms, functioning as a complement to the technological cycle of the farm, can be an important policy tool for sustainable development at the local and national levels. A special case, is the use of technologies based only on slurry or manure on site. The so-called "food chain" is then not broken and the cumbersome transportation of substrates is eliminated.
