The Spanner wood-fired power plant consists of the Spanner wood gasifier and the Spanner combined heat and power unit (CHP). The Spanner wood gasifier is based on a process designed by inventor Bernd Joos. The heart, the so-called reformer, produces pure wood gas from natural wood chips through a controlled process. The wood gas is used to operate the CHP unit. The heat generated can be used for heating buildings, drying plants or local heating networks. The electricity generated is fed into the grid and remunerated.
