Maize cob cores have the broadest of all maize straw fractions, with a C:N (carbon to nitrogen) ratio of 100:1 on average. Cob cores are also characterized by a structural structure composed of three types of hard tissues. All this means that they decompose in the soil for a very long time. Corn cob cores contain little nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium (N, P, K, Mg) as well as sulfur and chlorine compared to cereal straw. The collection of corn cob cores as an energy material using the Power Maize® technology is part of the strategy of two-way field use, i.e. the production of grain intended for fodder for the food industry and energy biomass. Such an approach raises no doubts of an ethical nature and, above all, is in line with the so-called fuel production strategy. second generation.
